The three big names that most people recognize in the Aberdeen area are Royal Aberdeen, Trump International Aberdeen, and Cruden Bay. All are worthy of consideration, but there are plenty of other options on that east coast of Scotland. On the way up to Aberdeen, Montrose is a very popular option as it is the 5th oldest golf course in the world. Newburgh Links, Peterhead, and Fraserburgh are all worthy of attention.  Murcar is fantastic and is basically an extension of Royal Aberdeen as the courses share the same coastline. Last but not least is Stonehaven. Just south of Aberdeen, Stonehaven is one of those places you have to see to believe. It is a par-66 course that might very well be the greatest hidden gem on the planet!
